Lower Valley church receives more than 100 migrants released by ICE

A church in El Paso’s Lower Valley is asking the community for donations after ICE asked for its help housing more than 100 Honduran migrants.

Caminos De Vida Church told ABC-7 it was not prepared to receive the migrants. A church member told ABC-7 the migrants were very hungry when they got off the CBP buses. The church received the migrants shortly before 5 p.m. on a three hours notice. By about 6 p.m., some donations of food, water and milk started arriving at the church.

The church is asking for immediate donations of water, food, sleeping bags, blankets and diapers. It is located at 7822 San Jose Road. For more information on how you can help with donations or volunteer, call (915) 565-2999.

The Annunciation House, a South El Paso shelter that works with ICE to house migrants seeking asylum, told ABC-7 all of its shelters are at capacity. The migrants it was unable to help were sent to Caminos de Vida.
