Las Cruces bicyclist dies as a result of his injuries after being hit by a pickup truck
A Las Cruces man has died as a result of his injuries after being struck by a pickup truck Monday, Feb. 25.
According to Las Cruces Police, 65-year-old Hien Van Nguyen died early Thursday morning at University Medical Center (UMC) in El Paso.
Police said Nguyen was riding his bike along Amador Avenue at around 5 p.m. Monday and was later struck by a white Chevrolet pickup at the intersection of Amador and Motel Boulevard.
According to police, the driver of the pickup truck, a 48-year-old man, was going west on Amador Avenue as Nguyen was going east. While the driver was in the process of turning left on Motel Blvd., he struck Nguyen.
According to police, Nguyen was taken to Mountainview Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces but was later airlifted to UMC.
Police said the driver did remain on the scene. No citations or charges are expected to made.
