NMSU Women’s basketball team captures WAC Tournament title

The New Mexico State women’s basketball team has done it again.

Following a 76-73 victory over UT-Rio Grande Valley in the WAC Championship game Saturday afternoon, the Aggies punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

It will be NMSU’s fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last five years.

The Aggies missed out on the tournament last season after losing in the WAC Championship title game.

Saturday’s contest against UTRGV had to go to two overtimes before NMSU was able to pull away from the Vaqueros.

It was the team’s 17th consecutive victory.

After the game, NMSU’s Brooke Salas was named to the WAC All-Tournament Team and Gia Pack was named the WAC Tournament MVP.
