El Paso’s First Lady, Juarez government leading tours into Juarez to boost tourism
If you haven’t visited Juarez in a while you now have the chance to join tours led by El Paso’s first Lady.
Adair Margo, along with the City of Cuidad Juarez are leading tours in Juarez to help promote El Paso’s sister city and boost tourism.
Margo took the first group of this tour series across the border this morning.
“I enjoy Juarez so much, and it’s time for El Pasoans to come back,” Margo said.
“Some people haven’t been back in a long long time. They’re going to realize how good it feels to be back. Those who haven’t been here are going to discover things they never knew existed.”
The tourists were walked across the Santa Fe Bridge in Downtown El Paso, the first in a series of tours, exploring a museum honoring a Juarez-born artist, the founding mission of our region, and a market.
All this done along with the Juarez city government.
“She loves the region and we love it too, so we want people to see what we have really,” said Jose Arturo Ramos of the Juarez Binational Affairs Office.
Seven years after the drug war, Mrs. Margo and the Juarez government said they both want people to experience El Paso’s sister city without fear.
“It’s important to be good neighbors, especially now when it’s safe. There’s no reason not to come and support our friends and neighbors in Juarez who have beautiful things to offer. But why offer if no one comes?” Margo said.
Tours will be every third Thursday of the month, the next one is scheduled for April 18.
