EPPD: 3 suspects arrested in Central El Paso, 3 guns seized
Police officers in Central El Paso arrested and charged three men with weapon-related charges over the weekend.
The first arrest was made when police officers responded to a ” prowler ” in the 600 block of S. Kansas at 12:12 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Police the officers were assisted by a Department of Public Safety air unit when they located 35-year old Angel Tovar . The suspect allegedly ran from officers and, during the chase, allegedly threw a crown royal bag that contained a .380 handgun with four rounds. Police arrested Tovar and charged him with Evading Arrest or Detention, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
The second arrest was made as officers responded to a shots fired call in the 500 block of Lisbon at 12:29 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019. The police officers, once again assisted by the DPS air unit, located the vehicle allegedly involved in the offense a short distance away. During the investigation, officers identified 25-year old Ryan Shaquille Charles as the man who allegedly fired the weapon. Police charged Charles with Discharging a Firearm in Certain Municipalities. Officers also recovered a .380 Smith and Wesson handgun.
The third arrest was made on Sunday, March 24, 2019 as police officers were investigating a ” subject with a gun ” call at 5:36 a.m. The investigation revealed 27-year old Roman Vasquez was allegedly in possession of 3.04 grams of Marijuana, a glass pipe, a Smith and Wesson revolver, and six rounds of ammunition. Vasquez was booked for Possession of Marijuana Under 2 ounces and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
Police said the three arrests are unrelated. All three men were booked into the El Paso County Jail.
