Investigators assigned to the El Paso Police Department’s Gang Unit and the West Texas Anti-Gang Center arrested a man wanted on outstanding warrants Wednesday morning in Northeast El Paso.

As police and SWAT officers approached Williams, he ran away carrying a handgun, police said. Williams ran a short distance across McCombs , ” attempting to rack a round into the weapon as he fled, ” said police.

Williams eventually dropped the weapon and was caught by the officers after a brief foot pursuit.
