Socorro family in need of help after fire tears through mobile home

A family in Socorro is in need of help after a fire destroyed their mobile home Monday afternoon.
The fire happened at around 2 p.m. at a mobile home located on the 100 blk. of South Moon Rd.
The mobile home park is located near Socorro High School and students were told to stay indoors because the smoke from the fire traveled all the way to the high school.
Erena Franco lived at the mobile home that caught fire with her son and her four grandchildren.
Franco says she was coming home from visiting her sister and that all day she felt like something was wrong and that she couldn’t believe that it was her home that was on fire.
Franco’s 4 grandchildren, ages 3,6,7 and 11 were all home at the time of the fire.
All of them made it our safely thanks to a neighbor who went inside the home to evacuate the two children who were still inside.
The neighbor had to be taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The home was completely destroyed and a vehicle that was parked near the home was also damaged.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The Franco family is receiving help from the Red Cross, but they could use some additional assistance.
