EPPD: Failed suicide attempt to blame for wreck near Montana and Airway
El Paso Police said a failed suicide attempt is to blame for a wreck that shut down a portion of Montana in East-Central El Paso early Tuesday.
The crash happened around 4 a.m. It blocked traffic for nearly four hours before it was cleared before 8 a.m.
Police at the scene told ABC-7 one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police would later say an investigation revealed the crash “was the result of the driver from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in an attempted suicide while he was driving.”
Police said the 28-year-old driver sustained a life-threatening injury from the head wound, but did not die.
