Montwood High grad puts El Paso on the map with feature in Vogue Magazine

An elegant El Pasoan is putting her fashion forward. Her sustainable creations can now be seen flipping through the pages of Vogue. One of the most prestigious fashion magazines.

Montwood grad, Romina Cenisio, spent her high school years dancing in the Montwood High School Emerald Dancer’s group, but she always had a passion for fashion.

After high school, Cenisio would pack up her bags and move to New York where she studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Just last month Cenisio was featured in a Vogue article which featured photos of her clothing line.

The project is called “Infinite resort” and the slip dresses feature photographs of butterflies, the jungle and the ocean, snapped by photographers with national geographic.

The photoshoots took place at locations across the borderland. Red sands, White sands, The Rio Grande and Juarez. For Cenisio these locations were chosen to help show off the beauty of a place she once called home.

“I just wanted to show how stunning the city is. The deserts and Juarez. That’s why I went home and used local models and photographers and it came out so incredibly beautiful to the point that it caught the attention of Vogue to do an entire feature on it,” said Cenisio.

Romina comes home often and will be sharing her travel diary in a short film.

“I’m trying to build a a virtual travel platform. The way these dresses took you to different places I want to continue that message through different kinds of content and travel and conservation,” said Cenisio.

She went on to say that all profits from the Zine – or short film – will go to the Fronterizo Fianza fund that helps immigrants detained on the border.
