Bobcats quench thirst in Las Cruces woman’s backyard pool

A wild feline and four cubs were spotted drinking from the pool of a Las Cruces woman.

Nancy Bierner Heavner posted a video of what she believed to be an adult bobcat sipping her pool water in June.

Over the weekend, she uploaded another video, this time it was of four cubs also trying to stay hydrated drinking from her pool.

Some Facebook users expressed concern the wild animals were ingesting all the chemicals in the water, while others expressed concern for Heavner.

Michael Nunez wrote he doubted the animals were bobcats because they normally have “short stumpy tails.”

While they’re cute to see from a distance, the Human Society of United States says that it is best to persuade wild felines to leave your property.

The Humane Society suggests using fencing, never leaving food or water for bobcats and to make disturbingly loud noises to deter their presence.
