Ysleta Teachers Association wants consequences for superintendents in alleged Whataburger fight
The president of the Ysleta Teachers Association said Wednesday night that she wants repercussions for both superintendents involved in the alleged fight at a San Antonio Whataburger.
The El Paso Times says that Ysleta ISD Superintendent Xavier De La Torre head-butted Socorro ISD Superintendent Jose Espinoza at a Whataburger restaurant during a late night encounter in mid-June.
Tuesday night’s Socorro Independent School District board meeting began with Superintendent Jose Espinoza apologizing for the negative attention the altercation put on the SISD, but he added: “Let me be very clear this was not a fight, this was an assault.”
President of the Ysleta Teachers Association Arlinda Valencia told ABC-7, “I’m very glad that he came out with an apology. There’s still conflicting information coming from both sides.” She added, “Right now I think that we need to hold judgement because of the fact that we don’t know everything.”
