2nd Rail Fan Fun Festvial toots along at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing
The 2nd Rail Fan Fun Festival chugged along at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing at the rail side restaurant.
Young and old came out to see train replicas along with learn history about the Borderland’s train evolvement.
The layouts depicted lines from all over America and one that commemorates Anapra before modern times.
Program leaders and history aficionados were on hand to explain the importance of the area to trade between the two nations.
Woody Bare with the Railroad and Transportation Museum of El Paso said, “The Union Pacific has a big yard in Sunland Park, New Mexico. It’s an inter-modal facility where a lot of the Mexican goods cross and are loaded onto the Union Pacific trains and sent throughout the United States.”
The Union Pacific will send their “Big Boy” steam engine along the rails behind Ardovino’s Desert Crossing in memory of the Golden Spike celebration.
The festivities celebrate the connections of the Trans Continental Railroad.
