Sunday Funday Moment: St. Patrick Cathedral student gets a homecoming surprise from military dad

Nicholas Jones is a 4th grade student at St. Patricks Cathedral school in central El Paso.

This past Friday afternoon seemed like a pretty normal day for him. Pizza was on the menu for lunch but one thing that was not on the menu was a special surprise that left him in shock for a few seconds.

The special moment was recorded by the staff at St. Patrick Cathedral and posted on the schools Facebook page.

The heartwarming moment shows Nicholas sitting at lunch talking to a friend. Nicholas’ dad, Army Chief Warrant Officer 5 David Jones, then walks into the cafeteria behind his son.

Nicholas takes a few seconds to realize that his dad was really standing right in front of him in the school’s cafeteria.

Once he got over his shock, Nicholas ran up to his dad and greeted him with a big hug and an even bigger smile.

Welcome back home Chief Jones and thank you for your service.
