2 injured in Socorro shooting, 3 suspects in police custody

Socorro police said two people were injured a shooting that happened in the area of Apodaca and Socorro Rd. Tuesday afternoon. Officers took three suspects into custody, however, police said no arrests have been made.

Socorro High School was placed on lockout following the shooting. A ‘lockout’ is when everyone in the school is brought indoors and no one else is allowed on the campus. Classes remained on schedule. Socorro Independent School District officials confirmed the lockout was lifted and students were released as normal.

Police said there was no immediate threat to the public. Officers are asking anyone who may have seen a group of men walking around the Apodaca and Socorro area around 2 p.m. Tuesday, or may have information regarding the incident, to call Socorro police at (915) 858-6986.
