ABC-7 Listens: KVIA.com now has a section to highlight positive stories in the community
EL PASO, Texas-- The stigma many label local news with is that it's full of crime and sad stories. Yes, we cover many stories involving crime and tragedy, but ABC-7 also strives to tell our viewers stories of triumph, perseverance and happiness.
ABC-7's Iris Lopez recently started a new weekly segment called "Sunday Funday Moment."
Last week's moment featured an El Paso man who is wrapping christmas presents this holiday season to raise money for his cancer treatment.
One ABC-7 viewer took a real liking to the story but also added a suggestion.
Viewer Dan R. sent an email to ABC-7 writing, "I have a suggestion. I think It would be good to add a "good news" listing/button to your web page where you can have the news stories that are positive and enlighten others."
While ABC-7 does not have a "good news" section on our website, we want to bring your attention to our weekly efforts to highlight positive stories in our community.
On KVIA.com just click on this icon often refferred to as the 'hamburger button' next to the ABC-7 logo.
That will call up a menu where you can you click on "life" and you'll find a quick link to the "Sunday Funday Moment" page where all of Iris' stories will show up.
You'll also notice the "Community Champions" link. This is a weekly segment often, but not always, highlighting great feats by local high
school and youth athletes.
Essentially, it's ABC-7’s effort to continue highlighting positive, uplifting
stories, and we rely heavily on you, the viewer, for these stories. You can always nominate a Community Champion or share a possible Sunday Funday Moment by going to kvia.com and clicking on the "share" tab.
