UTEP basketball coach Rodney Terry released from hospital, to resume duties next week
MIAMI, Florida – UTEP head men's basketball coach Rodney Terry was released from a Florida hospital on Friday, two days after being admitted following an allergic reaction that resulted in anaphylactic shock.
"Coach Terry is on the mend and expected to make a full recovery," said UTEP Athletics Dept. spokesman Jeff Darby, who added that Terry was expected to return to his coaching duties next week.
Terry was admitted to the intensive care unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami on Wednesday evening, where he had remained listed in critical but stable condition on Thursday. Officials have not elaborated on his medical condition.
Terry was expected to return to the UTEP bench for the Southern Miss game next Thursday in El Paso, Darby indicated, while assistant coach Kenton Paulino would continue serving as interim head coach for the Miners’ game at Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
Paulino took over at the helm on Thursday for UTEP, which lost to Florida International 69-67 in their Conference USA opener without Terry.
