TxDOT working on several projects to improve El Paso roadways
EL PASO, Texas -- The Texas Department of Transportation is working on several projects this year to improve El Paso roads and freeways.
One of the largest projects in the works is the I-10 Connect Project, a multi-year project that will continue throughout 2020. The project includes building ramps over I-10 where it intersects with US-54. The ramp leading into Juarez was closed in September and is expected to remain closed through the middle of the year.
Another project set to continue this year includes the widening of Montana Avenue, which will make part of Montana a freeway from Global Reach Dr. past Zaragoza Rd.
The Loop 375 Project is set to begin this year from Montana to Spur 61, as well as improvements to Loop 375 from Bob Hope to Zaragoza.
One project expected to start this year that could cause disruption on the west side is a Mesa St. rehabilitation project from Glory Rd. to Sunland Park Dr.
TxDOT spokeswoman Jennifer Wright says the department is proud of the projects completed in 2019.
"As we wrap up 2019, we can look back at the projects we completed. Go-10, the major project on the west side and the Border West Expressway, which was the largest project this region has ever seen to date," Wright said.
Wright reminds drivers to be alert in construction zones, slow down and expect the unexpected.
