WATCH: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott gives update on storm response
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas’ power grid operator said Friday that rolling outages were no longer needed to balance supply and demand and the state's electrical system was back in normal operation.
But many Texans are still without power, and millions of people across the state have had their water service disrupted in the aftermath of this week’s massive winter storm.
Gov. Greg Abbott, joined by emergency officials in Austin on Friday afternoon, said the state’s current response to the winter storm was focused on four key priorities...
- Restoring power to about 165,000 homes still without electricity because of downed lines.
- Restoring water systems.
- Ensuring adequate food, water and fuel supplies.
- Helping refineries get back online.
