Crash on I-10 west outside of Las Cruces; four injured including 5-year-old child

UPDATE: Four people were injured in a crash on I-10 west near Mesquite. All four were taken to an El Paso hospital, according to New Mexico State Police. The extent of their injuries is not known.

State police say an 18-year-old driver was speeding on I-10 west when he left the road and collided with a parked Buick Encore.

There were two women in that car and a 5-year-old child. Police say one woman was 26, the other 21.

State police say the interstate has reopened after a brief shut down.

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Several lanes on I-10 west near Las Cruces are closed after a serious crash.

It happened around 8 a.m. on milepost 146. The New Mexico Department of Transportation said both lanes are closed. There's no word on any injuries, but New Mexico State Police is investigating.

Our New Mexico Mobile Newsroom spotted a red sedan with front side damage.

Traffic is being diverted of I-10 at Mesquite onto Frontage Road 1037. Traffic is backed up for several miles. Expect delays.
