Las Cruces approves transfer of 13 liquor licenses from Pic Quik to Circle K
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - Circle K's purchase of nearly every Pic Quik store in southern New Mexico is almost complete.
On Tuesday, councilors voted to approve the transfer of 13 liquor licenses from Pic Quik to Circle K, which owns thousands of gas stations and convenience stores across the country.
Pic Quik owner Oscar Andrade said Doña Ana County will still need to authorize the transfer of four liquor licenses. He said the city of Deming also needs to approve the transfer of two licenses. Andrade said the village of Hatch has approved the transfer of his only liquor license there.
Liquor license transfers
- Las Cruces - 13 stores (approved)
- Doña Ana County - 4 stores (pending approval)
- Deming - 2 stores (pending approval)
- Hatch - 1 store (approved)
He said he will not comment publicly until his six remaining license transfers are approved.
Not every store will be converted to a Circle K: Andrade confirmed that he will retain ownership of his store on 3916 W Picacho Ave.
While the signs on the various locations still read "Pic Quik," various employees confirmed Circle K began managing the stores in December.
