More UTEP students eligible to have their entire tuition covered with Paydirt Promise
EL PASO, Texas – UTEP officials have announced eligibility requirements for its expanded Paydirt Promise Program which helps students cover their entire tuition.
UT System regents approved the creation of an endowment to help undergraduate students at UT institutions pay for college on Feb. 24.
The "Promise Plus" program will provide tuition assistance to students at seven UT institutions: UT Arlington, UT Dallas, UT El Paso, UT Permian Basin, UT Rio Grande Valley, UT San Antonio and UT Tyler.
Officials say the $300 million endowment will help generate about $15 million this year, with the money distributed evenly to the 7 institutions. Each institution will receive a minimum of $1 million this year
The endowment is expected to grow in value over time - increasing annual allocations to institutions accordingly each year.
The money UTEP receives will expand its Paydirt Promise program.
The money is intended to supplement federal and state aid.
