Two drivers fled the scene of fiery multi-vehicle crash at I-10 and Hawkins
Update (4/11) - El Paso police say two drivers ran from the scene of a fatal multi-vehicle crash. Their identities remain unknown.
Investigators say the first crash happened at 5:49 a.m. on I-10 east at Hawkins when the driver of a Corvette lost control and crashed into the center median. The Corvette came to a stop. The driver of a Tahoe going the same direction rear-ended a Pontiac Vibe, causing the Pontiac Vibe to lose control, hit a cement barrier and burst into flames. The driver of the Pontiac Vibe died due to his injuries. That victim's identity has not been released.
An El Paso woman, Yvonne Delgado, reached out to our newsroom and said her brother was the man who died in the fiery crash. She identified him as Raymond Barron. Delgado said her brother was a hard-working man and was on his way to work as a security guard when the crash happened.
āI canāt cope with it. I donāt know how Iām coping with it day-by-day. Itās just too much," Delgado said, fighting back tears.
Police say the drivers of the Corvette and Tahoe fled the scene.
Delgado and her family are calling on the two drivers to turn themselves in.
"Please, if youāre out there and you did this to him, please just come forward. We want closure. Why did you do this to him? He was just an innocent man going to work," Delgado said.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 915-212-4080.
