Person rushed to UMC after receiving gunshot wounds in Santa Teresa
SANTA TERESA, New Mexico -- The Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office are investigating after one person suffered serious gunshot injuries.
Officials said the incident happened around 5:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Santa Teresa. It occurred in a desert area off of Pete Domenici Highway.
The Doña Ana County Sheriff, Kim Stewart, told ABC-7 it was an "accidental discharge of a firearm."
Sheriff Stewart confirmed it was a male victim who received the injuries.
No other information could be provided about the victim or a possible suspect.
Officials at the Sunland Park Fire Department said the person was taken to University Medical Center.
