El Paso Police identify 25-year-old killed in crash on I-10 at Schuster

Update: El Paso Police identified the victim in the crash as 25-year-old Sarah Joy Martinez. Investigators say she lost control of her car during a heavy rainstorm. She spun out of control, hitting a guardrail and stopping in the far right lanes of I-10.

They say an on-duty Border Patrol agent pulled over to help Martinez. She got out of her car as a semi truck was nearing the crash. The semi truck driver was unable to stop and hit the Border Patrol unit, Martinez's car, and Martinez. She died at the scene. The Border Patrol agent suffered minor injuries.

Heavy rainfall and speed were believed to be factors in the crash.
