Harris-Walz vs. Trump-Vance: It’s now an expanded battle for both the Sun Belt and Rust Belt

ATLANTA (AP) — With both major party tickets now decided, the 2024 presidential general election campaign is set to play out as a 90-day sprint, and the Rust Belt and the Sun Belt are prime fronts. Now that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has joined the Democratic ticket, Vice President Kamala Harris is trying to shore the “Blue Wall” states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania that Democrats need to win 270 electoral votes and keep the White House. Harris had already signaled that she would also contend in Sun Belt states that increasingly seemed out of reach for President Joe Biden.
