Ex-politician testifies he’s innocent in the killing of a Las Vegas investigative reporter

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former Democratic politician has told a Nevada jury that he didn’t kill a Las Vegas investigative journalist who wrote articles critical of him. Robert Telles took the witness stand in his murder trial Wednesday. He says he’s waited two years to tell his story. His testimony will resume Thursday — including cross-examination by prosecutors. Telles used to be the administrator of a county office that handles people’s estates. He insists he’s been framed in the stabbing death of Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German. Telles says he’s been victimized by a political and social “old guard” real estate network for trying to fight corruption in his office.
