Patty to bring heavy rain to the Azores; Tropical Storm Lane to dissipate without threatening land

KVIA

MIAMI (AP) — A storm system is expected to bring heavy rain to parts of the Azores islands over the weekend. That is according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. The center says Subtropical Storm Patty is clocking maximum sustained winds of nearly 50 mph with higher gusts. The islands are located about 800 miles off mainland Portugal. Separately, a tropical storm has formed over the Pacific Ocean but remains far off the coast of Mexico. Tropical Storm Lane was expected to start weakening on Sunday. There were no immediate coastal watches or warnings in effect.
