BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Hungary’s prime minister is predicting that Donald Trump’s new administration will abandon U.S. support for Ukraine ahead of a summit of European leaders where the war against Russia’s invasion will be high on the agenda. Viktor Orbán, who is close to both Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, said in comments to state radio on Friday that Ukraine had already lost on the battlefield, and that the U.S. would “pull out” of Ukraine assistance under Trump. It was a sign that Trump’s recent election could drive a wedge among European Union leaders on the question of the war as they meet for the summit in Hungary’s capital.
