Woman dies in Lower Valley crash
UPDATE: El Paso Police say a 64-year-old woman was ejected from the vehicle she was driving after a hit-and-run crash on the 5300 block of North Loop in the Lower Valley Thursday night.
Special Traffic Investigators say the woman driver was eastbound on North Loop when she made a U-turn and was struck by an SUV that was speeding westbound causing her to be ejected.
The driver of the SUV continued driving westbound on North Loop until the SUV stopped just past Hawkins. The driver then fled on foot.
The woman was taken to an area hospital where she later died from her injuries.
El Paso Police are asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash to call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477.
Police say speed and failure to yield to traffic contributed to the crash.
This is the 64th traffic fatality for 2024, compared to 75 for the same time period in 2023.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash in the Lower Valley, according to El Paso Police.
Police say it happened on North Loop and Hawkins just before 11 p.m. Thursday.
Our ABC-7 crew on the scene saw two cars severely damaged.
According to the last update from police at 7:37 a.m., all Eastbound are now open. All Westbound lanes remain closed between Dale Rd. and Butcher Rd.
