Mother reported daughter for leaving deadly crash scene: Documents

UPDATE (5:04 p.m.) -- Ambar Chavira's mother reported she left the crash scene to arrest, according to the arrest affidavit.

The crash involved four vehicles. Two witness saw the crash victim, Jaime Andrade, slumped over to the passenger area and heard him say he couldn't feel anything, documents said. While a witness helped Andrade, he could hear Chavira "yelling and asking where she was."

According to documents, the witness saw Chavira leave the scene. The witness stayed with the victim until he was sent to UMC, where he died from his injuries.

Less than an hour later, Chavira's mother called to report her daughter refused to go back to the crash scene or police station, documents said. Chavira's mother provided an address that matched one of the involved vehicle's registration information under Ambar Chavira.

Officers found Chavira at the address and noticed signs of intoxication, the affidavit said. They requested a DWI Task Force unit, and one of its officers arrested Chavira.

Chavira told an officer she had been drinking at the Hope and Anchor bar with her "sugar daddy," where she had four alcoholic drinks. While driving herself home, she rear-ended Andrade. According to documents, she walked over to the rear-ended vehicle and said, "it looked bad" and "believed the other person was dead."

She told police she stayed at the scene to wait for police, but left the scene, documents said. She added, she didn't call 911 to report the crash.
