2nd man arrested in far east El Paso murder stemming from botched drug deal
EL PASO, Texas -- Police announced Friday the arrest of a second man on murder charges stemming from a botched drug deal last week at a home in far east El Paso.
Police gang unit and SWAT officers took 18-year-old Joseph Banda into custody outside his home on Thursday afternoon, officials said. He was being held Friday in the El Paso County Detention Facility under a million-dollar bond.
Banda is accused along with 22-year-old Zachary Carter, who was previously arrested and is also being held on a million-dollar bond, in the slaying of a third man last Friday night at a home in the 2300 block of Birdsong.
That's where investigators say a meeting over a drug deal took place, ending in an argument that led to the shooting death of 19-year-old Joseph Anthony Jimenez.
