Las Cruces man accused of firing sawed-off shotgun during case of road rage
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- A Las Cruces man has been arrested after allegedly firing a sawed-off shotgun during what police described as a road-rage incident earlier this week.
Brenden Chavez was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of shooting at or from a motor vehicle. Both charges are fourth-degree felonies.
Police said he pointed a shotgun at a woman in the 2300 block of Lohman Avenue on Wednesday before firing one round into the air.
Chavez was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center, where he was currently being held without bond.
