EL PASO, Texas -- The Federal Bureau of Investigation is probing what turned out to be an "unfounded threat" targeting the Monster Jam truck event at the Sun Bowl on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

A UTEP spokesman described it as a "public safety threat" that resulted in the stadium being checked by UTEP police before determining that it was safe to hold the event.

Spokesman Victor Arreola didn't elaborate on any specifics of the threat.

He offered an apology on behalf of the event promoter and UTEP for any inconvenience for those attending Sunday's event while officials checked out the bogus threat.
