EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso police described what was reported as a shooting Saturday afternoon in a neighborhood on El Paso's far east side to be an "aggravated assault," but didn't elaborate.

The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. in the 14300 block of Angel D. Garcia Court and William Caples Street. Police crime scene tape and squad cars cordoned off the neighborhood afterward.

A police spokesman said officers found an assault victim at a home in the neighborhood and two people were taken into custody. There was no word as to whether the victim was injured, or the extent of those injuries.

Authorities declined to release any further details about the incident, saying it was under investigation by detectives.
