2 men arrested in Dona Ana County shooting that wounded pair

UPDATE: Authorities on Friday said that 61-year-old Manuel Balderrama has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and 24-year-old Blanco Balderrama has been charged with tampering with evidence.

ORIGINAL REPORT: ORGAN, New Mexico -- Two people were shot and wounded in a rural area of Dona Ana County just outside of Las Cruces, authorities said Thursday night.

The gunfire took place in the 7500 block of Grouse Run Drive in Organ.

Sheriff's deputies said two victims were taken to area hospitals; one was in critical condition, while the other was listed in stable condition.

Numerous people were being questioned by sheriff's detectives as they tried to determine what happened.

No further details were immediately available late Thursday night.
