2 arrests made in Lower Valley murder that police now say was drug deal gone bad
UPDATE: Two men have been arrested in last week's Lower Valley murder, police said Wednesday, as they also identified the victim of what's being called a drug-related slaying.
20–year-old Keith Arnold Swint was arrested in Florida and is being extradited to El Paso, while 25–year-old Devante Tyshawn Fuller was arrested in Horizon City and is jailed on $1 million bond. Both men face capital murder charges.
Police said the pair along with 20–year-old victim Daniel Hernandez had all been involved in a drug deal gone bad. Originally, they had said the June 2nd killing happened during a home invasion.
ORIGINAL REPORT: EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso police said a Lower Valley resident died Tuesday night at a local hospital after he was shot during a home invasion.
Police reported what they are now calling a "murder" just after 9:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of Prescott.
Officers who responded to calls about gunshots found the 20-year-old victim who had been shot and indicated there were two men responsible for the attack.
Police had only vague descriptions of the intruders who fled the scene.
The man who was shot was rushed with life-threatening injuries to to Del Sol Medical Center, where police said he died a short time later.
Homicide investigators were at the scene late Tuesday night and were expected to be there through Wednesday morning examining the crime scene.
The killing was believed to be El Paso's fifth homicide of the year.
