EL PASO, Texas -- Police on Tuesday night identified the man accused of breaking into the residence of El Paso's Catholic Bishop Mark Seitz and stealing his personal belongings.

24-year-old Jonathan Carillo is being held on $10,000 bond on charges of burglary as well as four other outstanding warrants.

Investigators said Carillo was captured after an officer recognized him on surveillance images from a prior drug possession arrest. When police found Carillo, they said they caught him going to a number of homes in the Pebble Hills area.

Bishop Seitz in recent days had expressed his gratitude to the El Paso police for recovering many of his personal belongings that were stolen during the recent break-in.

Among those items were a laptop computer as well as rosaries, crosses and other holy relics. However, a coin collection that Seitz has had since childhood remains missing.

Police are hoping someone will be able to reunite the bishop with his treasured collection; anyone with information was asked to contact police by calling 915-212-8315 or Crime Stoppers at 915-566-8477.

Though happy to have most of his property back, the bishop also found himself reflecting upon the extreme distress that millions across the country are currently dealing with.

“Many people in our country right now are under stress and much need," he said. "We see the long lines of people looking for food and sometimes that can drive people to make choices that they would not make at other times,” Bishop Seitz recently told ABC-7.

As a result of the thefts, the bishop said he planned to make some security upgrades to his residence in the near future.
