Fugitive El Paso murder suspect captured in Oklahoma
EL PASO, Texas -- A fugitive has been captured in Oklahoma and charged with a murder last month at an apartment complex in central El Paso, authorities told ABC-7 on Friday.
Cesar Armendariz, 21, was arrested in Lawton without incident on Thursday, Deputy U.S. Marshal Analicia Wong said.
He's charged in the June 30 death of 28-year-old Eduardo Reyes, who was shot and killed in the doorway of his apartment in the 3800 block of Fillmore Avenue.
The small apartment complex where the killing took place sits off of Dyer Street, just a few block blocks from the Cassidy Gate at Fort Bliss.
At the time of the killing, El Paso police had said they were looking for several suspects. In a statement Friday, police said Armendariz was identified as the shooter - but they did not indicate whether they were still seeking others in the case.
No motive has been publicly revealed for the slaying.
Armendariz was in the process of being extradited from Oklahoma to Texas on Friday. Police said he'll be booked into the downtown jail on a murder charge once he is brought to El Paso.
