Couple shot, killed in Socorro is identified; police say ‘no danger’
UPDATE, May 17: Socorro police on Monday released the identifies of a couple who were shot and killed over the weekend in their home, but they offered no details on what led up to the shootings or other information about their investigation.
Officers responding to a gunfire call Sunday morning said they found 74-year-old Isabel Silvia Reyes and 74-year-old Roberto Reyes both shot at 11544 Alameda Avenue in Socorro.
The wife died at the scene, while her husband was taken to a hospital where he later died.
While police didn't indicate any arrests had been made, they continued to maintain there was "no danger" to the public. The investigation into those deadly shootings was ongoing, police said.
ORIGINAL REPORT, May 16: SOCORRO, Texas -- Police were investigating what led up to the shootings of two people, one fatally, on Sunday in Socorro.
The two victims, both adults, were discovered by officers who responded to a morning call of shots fired on Alameda Avenue.
One of the pair was found dead, while the other victim was rushed to a local hospital in serious condition.
There was no word of any arrests, however detectives said in a statement that "there is no danger to the
community at this time."
