Stash of stolen mail seized by Las Cruces police; 200 victims
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Las Cruces police on Friday seized a large stash of mail believed to have been stolen over the last few weeks, possibly involving more than 200 victims across Dona Ana County.
Investigators said they believe the mail was stolen from letterboxes and U.S. Postal Service cluster boxes in various parts of the community.
The vandalism and theft is believed to have occurred from late last month all the way through this week.
It is a federal crime to steal mail, although no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
Police said their investigation into the mail thefts is still ongoing.
