East El Paso violent family fight ends in stabbing; 3 hurt
UPDATE: Police provided an update Saturday night on a violent family disturbance that happened earlier in the day, noting that they initially thought there were two stabbing victims, however only one of the three injured people had been stabbed.
Investigators said an argument between a couple and other relatives escalated into a physical fight that resulted in the stabbing around 12:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Trudy Elaine Drive.
During that fight, police said a 61-year-old El Paso man stabbed a 37-year-old Socorro man. The 61-year-old was also injured in the incident, as was a 19-year-old El Paso man, officers indicated.
Authorities said the stabbing victim remained hospitalized Saturday night in serious but stable condition, while the other two injured men were treated and released.
According to detectives, the investigation into the melee continued Saturday night and was progressing; while no criminal charges had yet been filed, aggravated assault charges in the case were anticipated. Officials didn't release the names of those involved in the family violence incident, but said they would once charges are lodged.
ORIGINAL REPORT: EL PASO, Texas -- A violent family disturbance at an east El Paso home on Saturday afternoon ended with two people being stabbed and two others suffering other injuries, according to police.
The incident unfolded around 12:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Trudy Elaine Drive, where two stabbing victims were taken by ambulances to local hospitals. At least one of the victims was reported to be in serious condition.
A short time later, police arrested another injured man. The arrest took place in the 1300 block of Vista Granda, where some of those involved in the disturbance apparently fled. Officers took the arrested man to University Medical Center for treatment of a broken ankle.
No further details were immediately available from authorities.
