19-year-old Juarez resident arrested for human smuggling in Northwest El Paso

Update: Texas DPS confirms a human smuggling arrest was made in connection with the crash.

"The driver was identified as Ruben Palma, age 19 out of Juarez, Mexico was charged for Human Smuggling and Evading," a spokesperson for Texas DPS stated Monday afternoon. "Both are felony charges. This investigation is ongoing and no further details are available at this time."

Update: ABC-7 has confirmed that the crash was part of a Texas DPS pursuit.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Texas DPS and El Paso Fire Department crews are on the scene of a crash on North Desert Boulevard near Paso del Norte this morning.

An ABC-7 crew observed the crash. This is happening in Northwest El Paso.
