Woman was not using crosswalk when she was struck and killed in Northeast El Paso

Update (October 8, 2024): Police are identifying the pedestrian killed in the collision as 67-year-old Lori Jean Kenyan. Police officials say Kenyan died at the scene.

Special Traffic Investigators say Kenyan was not in a designated crosswalk when she was struck by a car traveling north on McCombs.

"Investigators believe the pedestrian crossing in a non-designated area and poor lighting may have contributed to the crash," police officials explained Tuesday morning.

Police say this is the 51st traffic fatality of the year compared to 56 in 2023.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Police say one person was killed after being hit by a car in Northeast El Paso this evening at approximately 7:24 p.m.

Police say that person was hit at 9900 McCombs Street.

Special Traffic Investigators are currently responding to the scene.
