Intoxication manslaughter arrest in Northeast El Paso
Update (October 28, 2024): Special Traffic Investigators say 29-year-old Kevin Meacham was traveling "at a high rate of speed" while taking the US-54 Sun Valley exit.
He traveled north on the 10300 block of Gateway North, trying to make a right turn at the Sun Valley intersection.
Investigators say he was going to fast and his car hit another car that was in the westbound lanes of Sun Valley.
The driver of the other car died of serious injuries at the hospital, police officials say.
Meacham is charged with intoxication manslaughter and was booked on a $155,000 bond.
Police say that speed and alcohol contributed to this crash. They add that this is the 55th traffic fatality of the year, compared with 62 this time last year.
