Pedestrian hit by train in Fabens

Update (March 17, 2025): A spokesperson for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office identified the pedestrian as Salazar Samson Zenas, 24, from Uvalde, Texas. The spokesperson says that Fabens Fire Department crews found the person on the north side of the railroad tracks with "no signs of life."

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unite were called in to investigate. They spoke with the train engineer and an operator, who says Zenas was walking west on the right side while the train was traveling east. He was walking with a hoodie and earphones and did not react to the multiple warnings from the train's horn, the spokesperson explained.


Update: The El Paso County Sheriff's office confirmed to ABC-7 that the person hit by the train was dead upon arrival. The medical examiner has just arrived on the scene.

FABENS, Texas (KVIA)-- According to the EL Paso County Sheriff's Office, around 12:30 p.m. deputies responded to a train hitting a pedestrian in Fabens.

The incident occurred at 17250 Alameda Avenue.

EPCSO told ABC-7 that four intersections are currently blocked off.

The extent of the person's injuries is unknown at this time.
