El Pasoan accused of father’s murder had history with Crisis Intervention Team

Update (April 16, 2025): Court documents state that the EPPD Crisis Intervention Team had been called out to the Contreras residence several times before. Several of the visits by police were marked down as mental health related, according to court documents.

Court documents state that a family member found Victor Contreras dead in his home, with multiple cut and stab wounds to his body. The family member had also found Contreras' car missing.


Update (April 15, 2025): El Paso Police say that the person who died was identified as Victor Contreras, 74. Crimes Against Persons detectives obtained a warrant for Jaime Adrian Contreras, 39, and booked him into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $2,000,000 bond.

Police say that this is the eight murder of 2025, compared with five this time last year.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - Members of the El Paso Police Department's Crimes Against Persons unit were called out to the 11700 block of Ronald McNair in far East El Paso to investigate an unattended death.

The detectives with the Crimes Against Persons unit investigate El Paso's major crimes which include murders, unattended deaths, sexual assaults, home invasions, kidnappings and officer-involved shootings.
