Man dies after crashing car into East El Paso office building

Update (October 21, 2025): El Paso Police say the driver of the car that hit a building near Hawkins Monday has died.

Luis Hernandez Vasquez, 78, was driving east on Grover when he failed to stop at the Hawkins intersection. His car then hit a curb and a tree in the center median. The car then crossed Hawkins and crashed into the office building located at 1250 Hawkins Boulevard.

Vasquez sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital. He later died of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash.

This is the 52nd traffic fatality of the year, compared with 55 this time last year.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Fire officials say one person was rushed to the hospital after a car hit a building on the 1200 block of Hawkins Boulevard.

Emergency crews were first alerted to the crash at 3:19 this afternoon.

The FireSTAR helicopter crew was called in soon after, but an ambulance was eventually used to take the patient, who was suffering from serious injuries, to a local hospital.
