New Details: El Paso man accused of murdering his wife’s uncle
Update (November 4, 2025): ABC-7 has obtained new court documents in the murder of Miguel Garcia. The documents state that Garcia was allegedly shot and killed by his niece's husband, Jaeveyin Antonio Porter.
Court documents state that Porter started arguing with his wife on October 31. She was accusing him of infidelity, investigators say. The argument lasted into the morning of November 2. That morning, investigators say Porter's wife left their shared apartment to go to church with her family. The pair continued communicating over text while she was gone. Court documents state that Porter locked all of the doors to the apartment while his wife was at church.
Upon her return to the apartment complex, Porter's wife asked her uncle, Garcia, to help her ask Porter to leave the apartment. Court documents state that when she could not unlock the door to the apartment, she asked Garcia to force the door open. He hit the door twice with his shoulder and it opened.
"Once the front door was open, she saw the defendant coming down the inside stairs of the apartment townhome and began shooting towards [Porter]," investigators say in the court documents.
Porter then reportedly walked out of the apartment and continued to allegedly shoot Garcia, court documents state. They add that Porter then walked away, his gun reportedly still in hand.
