Migrant woman seriously hurt in fall off Sunland Park border wall

SUNLAND PARK, New Mexico -- A migrant woman was severely hurt Wednesday when she fell off a section of the U.S.-Mexico border wall in Sunland Park.

Firefighters said the 30-year-old victim was flown by helicopter to University Medical Center in El Paso for treatment of traumatic injuries after she hit her head on the ground during the tumble.

Sunland Park fire officials said their department has been typically been dealing with several instances a week of injured migrants who fall while trying to scale the border wall - and it's been tying up their rescue resources.
