Migrants on the Run: ABC-7 rides along with Border Patrol as agents apprehend migrants

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7's Saul Saenz reports from the border as he rides along with agents looking for migrants crossing the border illegally.

Officials say human smugglers are using new tactics to evade capture. Saul saw some of those new tactics in use during his ride along. Our crews also captured video of holes cute in a section of border fence, groups of migrants hiding in plain sight, and the moment agents detained an undocumented migrant. He also gets insight into the challenges facing agents, and a new understanding of how those challenges can change mile by mile.

Border Patrol officials say agents from other sectors have had to relocate to El Paso to manage the influx. This comes as the country prepares for the lifting of Title 42 later this month. Title 42 is a pandemic-era health order that allows the federal government to expel migrants without hearing their asylum claims.
